The trail passes Simba Camp, Second Cave, and Kibo Hut before a midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak, then descends via Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 — Rongai Gate → Second Cave

Begin trekking from Rongai Gate through forest and moorland terrain. Gradually ascend to Second Cave Camp for overnight and acclimatization.

Day 2 — Second Cave → Kibo Hut

Continue hiking across alpine desert landscape toward Kibo Hut. Rest, eat an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight summit ascent.

Day 3 — Summit → Kibo Hut → Horombo Hut

Start the summit push around midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Descend back to Kibo Hut briefly, then continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight rest.

Day 4 — Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate

Descend through moorland and forest zones to Marangu Gate, where you receive your summit certificate and transfer back.
