Detailed Itinerary

Day 0 — Arrival in Moshi

Pick-up at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide for briefing and equipment check.

Day 1 — Moshi → Rongai Gate → Simba Camp

Drive to Rongai (northern side). Trek through farmland and pine forest to Simba Camp (2,650m).

Day 2 — Simba Camp → Second Cave / Kikelewa Camp

Steady hike with views of Mawenzi. Lunch at Second Cave (3,450m), continue to Kikelewa Camp (3,630m).

Day 3 — Kikelewa → Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Short but steep climb to Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m). Afternoon free for rest and acclimatization.

Day 4 — Mawenzi Tarn → Acclimatization Day

Optional acclimatization hike around Mawenzi ridges. Spend a second night at Mawenzi Tarn for safer summit attempt.

Day 5 — Mawenzi Tarn → Kibo Hut

Cross "The Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut (4,700m). Early dinner and rest before midnight summit push.

Day 6 — Summit → Uhuru Peak → Horombo Hut

Start at midnight to Gilman’s Point (5,685m) and continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Kibo, then Horombo Hut (3,720m).

Day 7 — Horombo → Marangu Gate → Moshi

Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificate and transfer to Moshi for celebration.
