Meet your guide, gear inspection, and preparation for a self-supported climb. Overnight in Moshi.
Register at Londorossi Gate (2,250m) and begin trekking through rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m).
Climb out of the forest and onto the Shira Ridge. Camp at Shira 1 (3,500m).
A short day crossing the Shira Plateau to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) with panoramic views.
Ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization, then descend to the remote Moir Hut (4,200m).
Optional Lent Hills acclimatization hike. Continue along the Northern Circuit to Buffalo Camp (4,020m).
Long traverse with open views toward Kenya. Overnight at Third Cave (3,900m).
Gradual climb to School Hut (4,800m). Early dinner and prepare for summit night.
Begin the summit push around midnight via Gilman’s Point and Stella Point. Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
Descend to Millennium Camp (3,820m).
Final descent through the rainforest. Check out at Mweka Gate and return to Moshi for celebrations.
Self-supported climbs require excellent fitness and experience carrying full backpack weight at altitude.
