Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your mountain guide for a full briefing, equipment check, and preparation for the trek. Overnight in Moshi.
After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) for registration. Begin your trek through the beautiful rainforest filled with birds and monkeys. Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700m) after 4–5 hours. Short walk to Maundi Crater if time allows.
Hike through heath and moorland landscapes, enjoying stunning views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Reach Horombo Hut (3,720m) after 5–6 hours. Relax, hydrate, and enjoy the sunset.
This extra day is what makes the 6-day itinerary safer and more successful. Take a short acclimatization hike toward Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Saddle. Return to Horombo Hut for lunch and rest.
Trek across alpine desert, passing the famous "long saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo. Reach Kibo Hut (4,720m) after 5–6 hours. Early dinner and rest before the summit push.
Start around midnight and climb to Gilman’s Point (5,685m). Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After photos and celebration, descend to Kibo for a break, then down to Horombo Hut.
Final descent through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and enjoy a hot lunch. Drive back to Moshi for a well-deserved shower and rest.
Tip: The 6-day version is recommended because the acclimatization day greatly improves your comfort and summit success.
